Future Hippies of Punk started the way most true things do — alone, with a guitar, and no plan.
Amos Schwartzfarb wrote and recorded the band's debut album Middle Aged No One by himself before FHOP existed as a band. Ten songs. One character moving chronologically through his own life. A story that wasn't designed — it emerged after the music did, which is probably why it feels true.
The sound lives somewhere between groove and psychedelia, with deep roots in 70s classic rock and absolutely no interest in staying in one lane. Queens of the Stone Age, Curtis Mayfield, JJ Cale, Brian Jonestown Massacre — that's the neighborhood, roughly. The actual address is harder to pin down, which is kind of the point.
FHOP isn't a young person's band chasing a moment. It's a Gen X existentialist project from someone with a real life and a real story — and music that earns every word of it.
